Weather in Istria in March: Temperature, Sea & Tips
In March southern Istria slowly wakes up. Daytime temperatures climb to around 13 to 14 °C, and in the sun it often already feels like spring, while the nights are still chilly. At about 11 °C the sea stays cold. The sun shines for around five and a half hours a day on average, and there are about seven rainy days. At the end of the month the clocks go forward to summer time, and the evenings are suddenly light. Many businesses on the coast are getting ready for the season; some restaurants reopen, others only in April or May. A lovely time now begins for cyclists and hikers: the paths around Pomer, Medulin and Premantura are empty, the maquis turns green and the air is clear.
Too cold to swim

Tips for March
- Cycle from Pomer to Premantura and on to Cape Kamenjak – there is hardly any traffic on the gravel tracks now.
- Visit the underground tunnels of Zerostrasse in Pula when the weather is changeable.
- Take a day trip to Rovinj and enjoy the old town without the summer crowds.
