Weather in Istria in October: Temperature, Sea & Tips
In October southern Istria becomes quiet and indulgent. Daytime temperatures usually reach around 19 to 20 °C, and the nights get cooler. The sea is still about 20 °C – enough for many people to enjoy a short, refreshing swim. The sun shines for around six hours a day, and rainy days become more frequent. Many beach bars and some restaurants close during the month, while supermarkets and numerous konobas stay open. Truffle season is in full swing: in Livade near Motovun, the Zigante Truffle Days (Dani Zigante tartufa) take place from 3 October to 1 November 2026. The olive harvest also begins. According to pulainfo.hr, the Pula Arena is open from 9 am to 7 pm in October (as of 2026, please check).

- Take a day trip to Motovun with a truffle tasting or a truffle hunt in the Motovun forest.
- Drive to the hilltop town of Bale or to Vodnjan and taste olive oil straight from the producer.
- Enjoy the mild autumn sun on the hiking trails at Cape Kamenjak or around Pomer.
