Weather in Istria in May: Temperature, Sea & Tips
In May southern Istria shows its fresh, green side. Daytime temperatures reach around 22 °C, and the sun shines for almost nine hours on average. The sea warms up to around 18 °C – on warm days the first swimmers take the plunge, but for most it is still refreshingly cool. Almost all restaurants, konobas and beach bars are now open, and boat trips from Medulin and Pomer start their season. The beaches are still pleasantly empty, and you can easily find a spot in the coves at Cape Kamenjak too. Around public holidays such as Whitsun the villages can get busier. Conditions are now ideal for hiking, cycling and trips into the hinterland.
Too cold to swim
